Controversial Customs Claims Addressed by Government

The presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, dismissed this Wednesday the accusations of possible irregularities at the Argentine Customs and questioned those responsible for disseminating this information. Adorni explained that a flight coming from the United States complied with all the required procedures at each stop, first in the United States and then in Spain and France.

In his statements, Adorni emphasized that it is not possible for someone to have seen a person disembark from the plane with ten suitcases, as according to current regulations, the suitcases were not unloaded. The presidential spokesperson added that it would be naive or malicious to assume that one can leave the United States with several suitcases without raising suspicions.

Although Adorni did not directly mention a particular journalist, his comments coincided with an investigation presented by a journalist from La Nación+, which suggests that a passenger related to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) received preferential treatment at the baggage controls upon entering the country on a private flight from Miami. Adorni explained that this passenger only carried a carry-on bag and one suitcase, which were inspected according to customs regulations.

In conclusion, the presidential spokesperson emphasized that the allegations of presumed irregularities aim to operate politically or act with malice. Adorni stated that the person named in the accusations had complied with all customs controls and followed the established protocols without any anomalies being detected.
